Hi, we’re the ruckers.

We are a loving family of five lucky enough to call Boulder, Colorado our home. We’re Adam and Kalia, our kids Abe, Monet, and Amelie—and, of course, Minky, our cat.
(Please don’t tell Amelie she isn’t pictured in our family photo ← …we’ve been having so much fun since her arrival that we’re very overdue for a family photo shoot…not counting the blurry, chaotic photos of all five of us buried somewhere on my phone.).

Fall, winter, spring, and summer, you will find us making the most of every season. Whether we are hiking, camping, skiing, splashing through creeks, tending the garden, foraging for mushrooms, or chasing waves whenever we can get close enough to the ocean, it’s easy to say that we are all pretty happy. As a couple who spent our early days finding adventure wherever we went, we knew we would be no different as parents. We believe childhood should be a little muddy, wonderfully curious, and filled with plenty of time outside.

As our family has grown, so has our dream for the life we want to create together: one filled with adventure, learning, music, creativity, and a community to share it all with. Trail to Table grew from that dream.

A little about us

Adam is a musician and carpenter—a true down-to-earth kind of guy. Born and raised in Vermont, you can find him pouring maple syrup on just about everything, wearing a tie-dye Ben & Jerry’s shirt, and singing along to the Grateful Dead. Kalia is a lifelong educator who grew up between the East and West Coasts but feels most connected to her roots playing along the Columbia River Gorge in Washington.

Enter the kids.

Abe is middle-school bound and doing exactly what we think kids should get to do: trying everything. He’s a musician, chef, climber, rugby champ, artist, and creator. Monet is our resident bug expert, aspiring princess, soccer star, and devoted gardener who begins and ends her days checking on what’s growing outside. And Amelie is already a true little Boulderite—hiking her way up mountains, splashing in the creek, and laughing her way through adventures alongside her big brother and sister.

our Dream behind trail to table

Around our own table, we talk a lot about the life we want to build.

Not just what we want to be when we grow up or where we want to live—but what we want our days to feel like.

We dream about a life lived alongside other people. The kind where our children grow up surrounded by people who know them, where neighbors share what they know and love, and where gathering together is simply part of the rhythm of life. We imagine kids learning deeply without being confined to four walls, with strong academics unfolding alongside creativity, curiosity, and plenty of room to explore. Music playing. Hands making things. Food grown in the garden, shared around a table where there’s always room for one more.

And somewhere along the way, we realized we didn’t want that only for our family.

Trail to Table is our dream of creating a place for all of us.

Room for families to find one another.

Room for people to bring their gifts, passions, and ideas—and share them with others.

Room for connection across families, backgrounds, and generations.

Room to slow down, stay awhile, and feel like you belong.

And room for experiences that don’t feel out of reach simply because of what they cost.

We’re beginning small—with Homework Club, a future Learning Co-op, and a growing community around Trail to Table. Someday, we dream of putting down roots on a piece of land and building a barn where all of these pieces can finally live under one roof. A place where children learn during the day and the doors stay open into the evening for music, art, wellness workshops, shared meals, and whatever else our community dreams up.

A place to learn.

A place to grow.

A place to gather.

Until then, we’re building it one experience, one relationship, and one seat at the table at a time.

Because life is better gathered.
